Tracy Hart, who now runs the company his parents founded, started working at Hart Trailer at the age of ten, pestering his father until he was finally handed a broom and put to work. That was forty three years ago, and he hasn't looked back since. He's spent his whole career building on what his parents started in 1968, growing it into the company it is today, and he's said there isn't a day that goes by that he isn't thankful for the job, the company, and the relationships built with individual customers over the decades. For Tracy, running Hart Trailer isn't just a job, it's what he's spent his life investing in and carrying forward.
One of the biggest advantages of buying a Hart is the ability to mix and match options until the trailer fits your exact needs and lifestyle. Hart builds for the most discriminating horsemen and horsewomen out there, and between an extra brush tray or a fully organized tack room, the design team at Hart has hundreds of options to pull from to get a trailer built just the way you want it. Hart trailers also come in twenty different color options to choose from, giving owners plenty of ways to make their rig their own.
The Tradition line traces straight back to where Hart started in 1968. If total customization is what you're after, Tradition is the trailer for you, with features and options limited only by your imagination and never by the strength of the build. Height, length, and width can all be adjusted, and hundreds of user friendly features are available, making Tradition the most customizable horse trailer on the market. Hart can design a Tradition trailer to fit your individual wants and needs from the ground up.
The Solution model was built with a smaller truck and shorter bed in mind, packed full of user friendly features without giving up an ounce of structure or strength compared to the Tradition line. Solution models share the same structural design and feature platform as Tradition, with one difference, width. Built at 6'8" wide, the Solution eliminates the interior fender well for a clean, smooth look with a v nose design that still delivers plenty of function. Solution trailers come in 2, 3, and 4 horse slant load goosenecks, along with 2 and 3 horse bumper pull configurations, and can be built out with trim and sidewall options limited only by width and length.
Hart's straight load lineup covers several different builds depending on what you're hauling. The Thoroughbred and Walk Thru models are both built for large bodied horses, running 6'8" wide, 7'7" tall, with 11' long stalls, and both come in bumper pull or gooseneck. The Thoroughbred comes with double rear doors, a full width ramp behind the doors, a removable stall divider, and full height escape doors on each side of the stall area. The Walk Thru is set up with double rear doors, a removable stall divider, a manger and fold down feed door on each stall, and a full height walk through door into the dressing room. A third straight load bumper pull option comes with mangers in front of both stalls and tack storage underneath, and Hart also builds a 2+1 model for larger breed horses that need extra room along with the flexibility of additional box space up front.
The most versatile trailer Hart builds is the Lariat, a gooseneck with a 4' tack and dressing room up front and a stock type stall area in back. That stall area comes with rubber floor mats, kick mats on all walls, a center gate, full width rear gate, tie loops, an escape door, and a Plexiglas track, while the tack and dressing room includes a 32" door, rubber floor mat, carpeted gooseneck floor and wall, removable saddle racks, and bridle hooks. Whether you're hauling horses, cattle, sheep, or furniture, the Lariat can handle it, and it comes in standard lengths of 20', 22', and 24', or fully custom to your needs. The Short Go is Hart's single axle, 14' gooseneck built for quick trips to the vet, moving stock between pastures, or short hauls to nearby events. It has rubber lined kick walls to handle horses, cattle, or whatever else you need to load, along with a dressing room set up with a 2'6" short wall, a 5' long wall, bridle hooks, and a standard 4 tier, 2 blanket bar saddle rack.
Built specifically for the smallest breeds, Hart's Miniature models are a popular choice for miniature horse transportation across the country, and Hart doesn't cut any corners on quality or construction just because the trailer is scaled down. Like the Solution line, Miniature models are built 6'8" wide to eliminate the interior fender well, giving a clean, smooth look at a strong value. They're available in 4 and 6 horse configurations and can be custom designed to fit specific needs.
The LoProXpo series brings some of Hart's most advanced construction features to the table. It's built with an interlocking, tongue and groove floor with integrated I beam cross members on 6" centers, at .140" thick the strongest floor in the industry. The roof is a 1/2" thick insulated fiberglass composite panel for climate control, quietness, and strength. Door hinges are heavy duty, built from 1/4" thick wall aluminum extrusion stock with 1/2" stainless steel hinge pins and stainless steel washers, a level of quality Hart says is unmatched in the industry. The rear frame is heavy duty too, with a full rear top header and side gussets making it the strongest rear frame section of any trailer out there. LoProXpo also features Hart's exclusive Smart Pen System with a slam latch and convertible 50/50 to 60/40 pens, along with a floating gate and Smart Glide System that lets you easily change compartment sizes as needed.
In 2014, Hart changed the way tack gets hauled and stored by introducing the Original Smart Tack trailer, which has gone on to become the company's best selling model and one of the most sought after designs in the industry. The idea is simple, access all your tack from the side of the trailer without ever climbing inside. Saddles are set at ground level instead of stacked on an upright saddle tree, so anyone, even the smallest cowgirl or cowboy, can reach saddles, blankets, pads, bridles, halters, and boots right from arm's reach. The opposite side holds an equally organized dressing room complete with a footlocker, plenty of hooks, a clothes bar, and an 18" by 8' tray. Smart Tack can be built into any Tradition Series trailer, from a two horse all the way up to an eight horse.
For those who want the same idea in a smaller package, Hart also builds the Smart Tack II, with a single 48" door, a 6 pole swivel blanket tree, two saddle racks, 18 bridle hooks, bell boot hooks, and a fully lined interior in .063 aluminum with carpet throughout. Just like the original, everything loads from the ground with no need to climb up into the trailer.
